Riding High Music Single Cover for Stone Alibi

The challenge

The rock and metal music landscape relies heavily on visceral, high impact imagery to capture a band's raw energy and attitude. The objective was to design a compelling CD and digital single cover for the track "Riding High" by Stone Alibi. The design challenge lay in translating the rebellious, fast paced essence of motorcycle culture and classic hard rock into a single, static image. It needed to command attention on crowded digital streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, while translating seamlessly onto physical CD merchandise for live shows.

Our approach

We executed an explosive, cinematic design concept that prioritises motion, intensity and dramatic lighting.

The Visuals & Composition At the center of the artwork, a lone motorcyclist bursts dramatically through a wall of fire and thick smoke against a rugged, mountainous desert backdrop. The composition captures a high speed, action movie aesthetic with flying sparks, embers and a glowing headlight that draws the viewer’s eye right into the centre of the action.

The Typography We integrated a rugged, distressed, and stenciled slab serif typeface for the track title "RIDING HIGH." The heavy, weathered texture of the font directly mirrors the gritty, industrial and unrefined nature of the rock music genre.

The Colour & Presentation The artwork utilises a high octane colour palette dominated by fiery oranges, deep molten reds and smoky blacks to maximise visual heat and energy. For the final portfolio showcase, the square artwork is set against a blurred, full bleed extension of the cover art to create a cohesive, immersive presentation.

The outcome

The final single artwork provides Stone Alibi with an aggressive, professional and visually unforgettable identity for their release. The design strikes a perfect balance between nostalgic biker rock aesthetics and modern digital rendering techniques. The production kit was delivered with high resolution, multi-platform files optimised for seamless distribution across all major streaming platforms, social media promotional banners and high quality physical CD jewel case inserts.
