Working with Coventry

A city of small, bold brands hiding behind generic facades.

Coventry has more independent businesses doing genuinely interesting things than its high-street appearance suggests. Most of our Coventry work has been helping those businesses look like what they actually are — and stop being mistaken for the chain two doors down.

1

The independents around Earlsdon & Fargo

Earlsdon's Albany Road and Fargo Village have a high concentration of independent food, drink, retail and maker businesses — a lot of our Coventry work starts there. Roasteries, bakeries, distilleries, small studios.

2

Spin-outs from Coventry & Warwick

Coventry University and Warwick (technically just outside the city) keep producing tech and research spin-outs that need to look credible to investors, customers and a sceptical press — usually before they can afford a London agency.

3

Professional firms in the Cathedral Quarter

The architecture practices, law firms and property consultancies clustered around the Cathedral Quarter and Greyfriars need work that's quietly confident, not loud — the kind of identity that holds up at a planning hearing or a partner-level pitch.

How a project runs across 9.4 miles.

Most of the work happens over video — same as it does for our clients in London, Bristol or Milan. But for Coventry briefs there are four moments where we'll always come to you in person, included in the quote at no mark-up.

1Kickoff

We come to you

A 90-minute discovery session at your office, café, studio or building site — wherever the work actually lives.

2Direction

Two routes, over video

Two design directions presented and worked through over Zoom or Meet — usually 60–90 minutes, recorded and shared.

3Develop

Refinement & reviews

Designs refined and shared async via Figma and PDFs. Two scheduled review calls; ad-hoc questions handled within the working day.

4Deliver

Press-check or handover

We attend the press-check for print and packaging work, or run a handover session at your office for digital projects — at no charge for Coventry-area suppliers.

In Coventry
The Nuneaton studio felt closer than the Coventry agencies we'd spoken to — both in distance and in attitude. Nicolas came down for the kickoff, sat in the actual roastery for two hours, then went away and came back with work that smelled like our coffee. Six months later we're in fourteen stockists.

Coventry FAQ

The five questions Coventry clients always ask.

If yours isn't here, drop us a note at projects@saint-nicolas.co.uk — written response inside one working day.

Do you offer in-person meetings with Coventry clients?

Yes. Our studio is 9.4 miles from Coventry city centre — a 25-minute drive up the A444, or a 14-minute direct train ride from Coventry to Nuneaton. We'll come to you for the kickoff and any decisive sessions (press-checks, brand reveals, launch reviews) at no additional charge.

Day-to-day work runs over video, which keeps the budget on the design and not the travel. If you'd rather meet at the studio in Nuneaton, that's an open invitation — we've got coffee, a long table, and a wall to print work onto.

Which areas of Coventry do you cover?

All of Coventry and the surrounding districts. Our recent work has been concentrated in Earlsdon, Fargo Village, the Cathedral Quarter and Spon End — but we've shipped projects with clients in Coundon, Stoke, Whitley, Cheylesmore, Tile Hill, Canley, Walsgrave, Allesley and Eastern Green too.

We also work regularly with clients in Kenilworth, Warwick, Leamington, Bedworth and Rugby — all easy reach from the studio.

How quickly can you get to Coventry for a press-check or proof sign-off?

Same-day if needed, with reasonable notice. The A444 connects the studio to Coventry's printers and ring road in 25 minutes off-peak; the train is faster than driving in rush hour.

We attend press-checks for print and packaging projects as standard, and proof sign-offs at suppliers in Coventry, Foleshill and the Bayton Road estate. If your printer's local, we already know it.

What kinds of Coventry businesses do you typically work with?

Independent food and drink (roasteries, bakeries, distilleries), architecture and design practices, small publishers and independent presses, retailers and makers around Fargo Village and Earlsdon, university spin-outs from Coventry University and Warwick, and a growing list of professional-services firms in the Cathedral Quarter and Greyfriars.

We work across nine design disciplines — brand, web, packaging, print, editorial and social — and most projects combine two or three. Browse the full portfolio for examples by discipline.

How do you price design projects for Coventry clients?

Same as anywhere — every project is quoted bespoke against scope, complexity and turnaround, with a written estimate before any work starts.

No travel mark-up for Coventry projects: we're close enough that on-site sessions don't change the brief. We don't publish day rates or package prices because every brief is genuinely different, and a fair quote needs context. Send us a brief or just a paragraph about what you're trying to do and we'll come back within one working day.
