Saint Nicolas is a principal-led design studio based in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. We've been making brands, websites and motion work for ambitious teams since 2014 — locally in the Midlands, across the UK, and occasionally further afield.
Saint Nicolas is a principal-led design studio — meaning one senior designer scopes, shapes and ships every project. No account managers in between, no juniors doing the parts that matter. It's a deliberate choice. The work is better when the person you talk to is the person doing the work.
We've been at it since 2014. In that time we've designed logos, packaging, websites, brochures, books, album covers, stationery suites and the print and digital work in between — for businesses in Nuneaton, across the Midlands, around the UK, and into 14 countries.
The projects vary wildly. The way we approach them doesn't. Every project gets the same four phases, the same written scope, the same level of senior attention. Big brand or small flyer — the bar's the same.
I'm Nicolas. I've been designing for businesses — small, large, local, international — for over a decade. Saint Nicolas is the studio I started in 2014 because I wanted to do the work the way I thought it should be done: with one designer responsible, end to end, for the whole thing.
Before Saint Nicolas I worked in-house and in agencies, where I learned everything I now don't do. Hand-offs between teams that should have been one conversation. Design decisions made by people who'd never met the audience. Beautiful presentations that fell apart when the work actually had to ship.
The studio is built around the opposite of that. Small enough to be senior. Big enough to be considered. If you brief Saint Nicolas, you're briefing me. If you give feedback, I'm reading it. If you see a final file, I drew it.
Note: This founder story is a placeholder — please replace with your own words, background, and what's drawn you to the work. The tone aims at warm, confident and concrete; adjust to match how you'd actually introduce yourself.
Whichever discipline you bring us, six things stay constant across every project.
One principal designer makes every meaningful decision. Whatever ships, I made it.
The scope, deliverables, timeline and revision rounds are all in writing before any work starts. The estimate is the brief.
We test designs in the contexts they'll actually live in — favicon, signage, social, dieline — not in isolation on a screen.
We present two genuinely different routes — not three safe variations of one. The decision matters.
If the work isn't landing, we say so and reset. If we're not the right studio for the project, we say that too and try to point you somewhere better.
A design that doesn't survive its first print run, deploy or post-launch month isn't finished. The 30-day support window covers it.
The studio's in Nuneaton — the birthplace of George Eliot, halfway between Coventry and Leicester, a 90-minute train from London and twenty minutes from Birmingham. It's a deliberately unfashionable place to run a design studio from, which is part of why we like it.
We work in person with clients across the Midlands — Coventry, Birmingham, Leicester, Solihull, Rugby, Tamworth. And remotely with clients across the UK and internationally — past projects have shipped into 14 countries.
You can visit the studio, we can come to you, or we can do the entire thing on video. Whatever's least friction for the project.
A small slice of recent and past clients — local Nuneaton businesses, growing UK teams, a couple of international names.
Drop us a line. We reply within one working day with a written response — not a sales call.
