This portfolio showcase highlights the packaging design and industrial grade carton layout for the Store Rite Heavy Duty Steel Shelving Unit. The objective was to design a highly professional, feature rich retail box that bridges structural reliability with consumer first instruction, instantly communicating weight capacities, multi functional configuration options, and rugged durability to hardware shoppers and DIYers.
Design & Requirements Breakdown
Visual Symbolism – The design features a high resolution hero product render demonstrating the shelving unit fully loaded with heavy tools, car care fluids, and household storage items. This is paired with an integrated weight scale graphic badge stating "400 lbs. Total Capacity" and secondary diagrams highlighting alternative horizontal workbench configurations, visually reinforcing maximum load security, industrial grade engineering, and versatile utility.
Typographic Architecture – A dominant, bold sans-serif display typeface blocks out "HEAVY DUTY STEEL SHELVING" across the upper right panel with immediate visual weight, which is perfectly balanced by high contrast yellow and blue call out squares detailing shelf counts ("5 Shelves") and bilingual feature bullet points for swift, multi market consumer reading.
Premium Presentation – The structural folding carton layout utilises a multi dimensional display format, showing a crisp white printed lid wrapping smoothly over a heavy duty, unbleached kraft corrugated base tray. This configuration ensures that sprawling product specs, physical dimensions (36in W x 12in D x 72in H), and assembly thumbs are organised logically without cluttering the primary front of pack presentation.
Strategic Colour Choice – A vibrant palette of energetic lime greens and bright cyan blues forms a high visibility, technical baseline, contrasted against a stark white backdrop and natural cardboard brown tray tones to evoke structural precision, industrial strength, and an ultra modern, professional tool identity.
