This portfolio showcase highlights the packaging design and retail box structure for the Koa Vibes Multi-Purpose Surfboard Rack. The objective was to design a high impact, adventure driven retail package that bridges ocean lifestyle aesthetics with rugged hardware utility, instantly communicating structural reliability, versatile board mounting, and outdoor exploration.
Design & Requirements Breakdown
Visual Symbolism – The design features a dramatic, full bleed photographic backdrop of powerful ocean waves breaking against snow capped coastal peaks, capturing the raw energy of extreme surfing environments. A minimalist, geometric wave and mountain triangular emblem sits at the crown, establishing an immediate connection to premium outdoor gear, oceanic adventure, and elite board culture.
Typographic Architecture – A clean, modern sans-serif typeface delivers the "KOA VIBES" brand identity and "MULTI-PURPOSE SURFBOARD RACK" title with striking visual weight and maximum legibility. This is perfectly balanced by an aggressive, custom styled orange script typeface on the lower panel that reads "MAKING ADVENTURE EASY," injecting a rebellious, action sports energy onto the box.
Premium Presentation – The structural folding carton layout utilises a 3D isometric display that allows the vivid marine imagery to wrap seamlessly across all load bearing faces. This cohesive graphic flow leaves ample room on the side and rear panels for technical blueprints, mounting dimensions, weight capacities, and retail barcodes without disrupting the premium, clean front of pack shelf presentation.
Strategic Colour Choice – Deep ocean blues, frosty whites, and cool slate greys form a fresh, nature centric baseline within the photography, sharply contrasted by a high visibility, energetic orange accent typography to evoke warm beach culture, safety, and a bold, ultra modern coastal lifestyle identity.
